Better than nothing?

For those who dont know me, let me bring you up to speed:

I have had a GS550, GS750, Yamaha Radian (YX700), CBR600F4i, and a Kawasaki KX700. Of course somewhere in the middle of all that is the now infamous SV incident, which we wont talk about. You might notice that the last two bikes there, seem like an odd jump. Well, the basis of this story is that my CBR was stolen out from under me, and I purchased the Kawasaki roughly a year later under the assumption that it was better than nothing...

With my lovely CBR now stripped down and sold for crack and 40's somewhere, I was left with a jacket, helmet, a burning hatred for theives, and a desire to ride that was stronger than ever. However, due to financial reasons a new bike was out of the question. So when I found out that a friend was a selling an old Kawasaki 700 for $500 it seemed like a good idea, just to buy it, and ride it around. After all, it was an inline-4, 700cc. How bad could it be? I had loved my GS750. Surely it had to be better than nothing.

I was wrong. First of all, if something like a motorcycle doesnt give you some sort of feeling or tingle everytime you see it, YOUR NOT GOING TO RIDE IT. That bike was ugly, and not in a good Speed Triple, or cafe racer way. Just ugly. After spending what time I did on the CBR, with a 15.5 RPM redline, and footpegs that were starting wear down, this downgrade just made me angry. I went on 2 actual rides with the bike, and found myself hating every single minute on the beast. I quickly sold it, and luckily turned a profit.

Im basicly just writing this in case anyone out there is thinking of "the good old days" or "back on my old whatever it was". You cant go back. You just cant.
