Arms for the Poor

From time to time we will have articles that are not related to pegs or monkeys in any way. Well, I guess politicians are closely related to monkeys....

Here's a rant from LesB

Video: Arms for the Poor

The video Arms for the Poor just shows that human nature is to blame someone or something else. If something is wrong humans by nature want to find someone to blame and someway to fix it. Most make the assumption that if guns are not sold then crime will be less likely to happen. What needs to happen is to make people responsible for their own actions and the human nature will have to change to do so.

Place a M-16 in the hands of a the Dahlia Lama and he will be a killing machine. He will have lost all sense of right and wrong and will kill every living thing in site. He can't resist the power that the inanimate object holds over him he will have to kill. Give one to the Pope and they will be taking shots at each other like wild men, killing every thing in site. Doesn't seem likely does it? It isn't, they are both decent human beings with minds and a will all there own; the same as you and I. They make tough decisions daily as we all do and they are held responsible for them.

The United States selling guns to other countries is a matter of supply and demand. The countries are shopping for weapons, they are not shopping for food or trying to buy hospital supplies and get hoodwinked into buying weapons instead. If we did not sell them M-16's the Chinese would sell them AK-47's. (They make them now, after buying the tooling from Russia) There is a market for weapons, the US not selling arms to them will change nothing.

What is the common factor between land mines, jet fighters, rifles and tanks. they are all operated by human beings. Thats right, humans must take the responsibility for the wars and violence, not the guns ,tanks and land mines. Humans must have a nature to kill and dominate that is how we have gotten to were we are today, at the top of the food chain. Unfortunately, now the only challenging prey is other humans. The people of Tibet changed from a warrior nation to a peaceful passive non violent society. That only tells me that it is possible for the human race to change. In order to do that we must realize we are the ones that are responsible and not blame everything and everyone else.

As for the victims in the video, my heart goes out to the innocent victims. The ones who choose to play the game and get hurt or killed, I have no remorse. We all make decisions and have to live with the consequences. We all have difficult decisions to make in life, which road you choose determines your fate. You must accept that as part of life, the same as you have to accept death. You are responsible for yourself.

"Arms for the Poor"

DPotts' introduction to Les's rant compared politicians to monkeys. I believe that you owe monkeys everywhere a sincere apology.

I'm way behind the rest in co

Submitted by cayting on Wed, 12/15/2004 - 22:53.

I'm way behind the rest in commenting on this..... such is my life !!?? :)
We all have been taught quite a bit about "four letter" words ... and some have gotten into huge amounts of trouble by using them around parents and such people. However....this site has gotten totally out of hand and has used the FOURTEEN letter word....... !!!!! R-e-s-p-o-n-s-i-b-i-l-i-t-y .
This is not ,as far as my limited knowledge goes, a politically correct word. I believe this ban to be true at all levels of society.
Somehow, however, it seems to be accepted quite well in most of the animal kingdom ... ???!! My personal theology is that the majority of furred, feathered, scaled, etc. creatures go about doing precicely what they were created to do ( of course, there are those times when humans add their "help" and completely mess up the program).
Back to humans. If you think about it, you rarely have to teach a child to do wrong ... it's a tendancy that comes built in with all of us. The selfishness is there (whether we decide to see it or not). The adults (questionable, regardless of age, at times ...oh well...) in the child's world are supposed to be the r-e-s-p-o-n-s-i-b-l-e (yeah...only eleven letters ) ones teaching as best they can by actions and words. Take all that and run it up the flag pole to those of higher influence in our town, state, country and just what have we been taught...by their actions and words ??
Am being decidedly grim here and to continue in that vein, I truly believe there is absolutely NOTHING (am not yelling, just emphasizing) wrong with our world that ...ready for this ...sure you are ....getting rid of the humans wouldn't cure.
Hummmmm .... ????
It's not a good plan and would likely meet with at least some resistance. We have to work where we are, with what we have. We do well at times; we often fail. Can we really learn to look past self and get on with the (here we go again...) r-e-p-o-n-s-i-b-i-l-i-t-y ?
As Tiny Tim said in "A Christmas Carol", "God bless us, one and all."
And I add..."Help us one and all" as well.
