Cohesive Cyclists?

Motorcyclists stick together, right? RIGHT? Well, I was sure they did. After wasting some time on the web browsing various motorcycle centric web sites I've observed some startling things. I've seen cyclists bitterly arguing amongst themselves over some pretty silly things. Then I though.. "Hey, that never would've been an issue 10 or 15 years ago." For example. Mufflers on bikes seem to be a huge issue. A decade ago, cyclists would have just let each other run whatever pipes they wanted. But now it seems that the anti noise crowd is really pissed at the noise crowd. Also, stunt riders are pissed at cruiser folks, and vice versa. There are other issues too. But the disturbing part of all this seems to be that motorcyclist don't have that cohesive feel we once had. It seems there's division in the ranks, and that's rarely a good thing for the group.

I blame American Chopper. No really. Everyone is walking around with an OCC tee-shirt acting all cool, like they know everything about motorcycles, building them, and what is and isnt cool. Because they watch a soap opera, that happens to feature motorcycles on occasion. Motorcycles with rigid frames, huge vees bolted directly to frames....and im being part of the problem. But I can relate as I just got a CBR600f4i and everyone at work keeps telling me that I am either A: An idiot B: Stupid or C: A and B. Seriously, im not gonna apologize to you because my taste or style is different from yours. I may think your ninja is a ghetto bike, or that your a yuppie poser on a fat boy with bolt on chrome. But thats your buisness, and im glad that you enjoy motorcycles. So quit all your whining and criticising, and gimme a wave next time your out riding.

You should see the posts on whether cruisers should wave to sport bikes and vice versa. Its funny to see the guys that talk all day about bikes and then can't ride more than 100 miles before calling it quits. Just ride yo.
